Which devices are supported?
VQ CarFinder is supported on devices with BlackBerry 4.5 Operating System or later, built-in GPS and Bluetooth.
Please check to ensure that your BlackBerry has 4.5 Operating System installed. If you don’t have 4.5, you can upgrade for FREE from BlackBerry's site.
How do I check which operating system I have?
• |
Click on Options icon from main menu on your BlackBerry |
• |
Click About |
• |
The 3rd line of information indicates your Operating System version (e.g. v4.5.0.55) |
• |
If your version is 4.5 or higher, you can use VQ CarFinder |
How do I upgrade my Operating System (OS)?
To upgrade your OS, use BlackBerry Desktop Manager or go to www.blackberry.com/updates
My car continues to provide power to VQ Car Charger.
Some vehicles continue to provide power to car chargers and other connected devices. In this situation, even though the Bluetooth device is still receiving power, the Bluetooth signal is lost once you are approximately 30 feet from your vehicle. VQ Bluetooth Car Charger draws minimal power when your car is off.
How do I set up VQ CarFinder on my smartphone?
When you first install VQ CarFinder you'll be taken to a Settings page where you fill in information like what email you want your Mileage Reports sent to, when you want VQ CarFinder to track your mileage and other related information.
You will then be prompted to "Select a Bluetooth Device". If you have built-in Bluetooth in your vehicle, please select this device. If you don't have built-in Bluetooth in your vehicle, you can either purchase a VQ Bluetooth Car Charger at www.4carfinder.com or you can use VQ CarFinder in Manual Mode. Click Why Bluetooth? for more information on why VQ MileageTracker prompts you to pair with a Bluetooth device.
Why do I need to set up Bluetooth with VQ CarFinder? How do I set it up?
You only need to set up Bluetooth if you want to use VQ CarFinder in AUTOMATED mode.
VQ CarFinder notes when you (and your Smartphone) are in range of your in-vehicle Bluetooth or VQ Bluetooth Car Charger. When you start your car, your Smartphone and your in-car Bluetooth automatically "connect" with one another. VQ CarFinder AUTOMATICALLY senses this pairing and AUTOMATICALLY uses your Smartphone's GPS to start tracking your location and the distance you have travelled. When you turn off and leave your car the Bluetooth connection between your car and your Smartphone ends. VQ CarFinder AUTOMATICALLY notes the termination of this connection then stores information regarding where you parked.
If you don't have in-car Bluetooth or a VQ Bluetooth Car Charger you can use VQ CarFinder in Manual Mode.
I don't have Bluetooth in my car. What can I do?
You can either buy a VQ Bluetooth Car Charger at www.4CarFinder.com or you can set up VQ CarFinder to work in Manual Mode.
What is a VQ Bluetooth Car Charger, and how do I get one?
VQ CarFinder interacts with your car's built-in Bluetooth.
If you don't have built-in Bluetooth in your car, you can use VQ Bluetooth Car Charger, which charges your Smartphone like other Car Chargers, but which also has a Bluetooth module built into it so that it can "simulate" in-vehicle Bluetooth for the purpose of pairing with applications like VQ CarFomder.
You can purchase a VQ Bluetooth Car Charger by clicking "Buy" at www.4CarFinder.com, or buy launching VQ CarFinder, clicking 'Select BT Device', then clicking Purchase BT Car Charger.
What is Automated Mode?
VQ CarFinder can AUTOMATICALLY track your location every time you drive your car.
To do this, VQ CarFinder notes when you (and your Smartphone) are in range of your in-vehicle Bluetooth or VQ Bluetooth Car Charger. To find your way back to your car just launch VQ CarFinder, click YES when asked “Find Your Car?” then VQ CarFinder will guide you back to your car.
No Bluetooth? No Problem. If you don't have in-car Bluetooth or a VQ Bluetooth Car Charger you can use VQ CarFinder in Manual Mode (see below).
What is Manual Mode?
If you prefer, you can manually start VQ CarFinder every time you are about to drive. To do this, when prompted to select a Bluetooth Device choose "Use Manual Mode". When you park your car just launch VQ CarFinder and you'll be asked "Set Car Position?". Click Yes, and VQ CarFinder will use your BlackBerry’s GPS to determine where you are parked and will then remember where you parked. To find your way back to your car just launch VQ CarFinder, click YES when asked “Find Your Car?” then VQ CarFinder will guide you back to your car.
